Look at my last post. What a waste of unwritten memories. I haven’t blogged for the longest time because I was too busy updating my other social networking sites. Ironically, I have since handled three (3) photoblogging workshop seminars to improve other sites…except mine! Ah, embarrassing.
From now on, I shall try to post snippets of my life. No matter how mundane, trivial and uneventful my day is going to be.
Promise.
LAKE SERENITY. This is how I always view Lake Sebu, in South Cotabato. Fishermen go about their daily livelihood with quiet ease knowing they will get their ample catch at a day’s end. I shot this image from a hillside with a 70-200mm lens, so the scene is quite far. I tweaked the colors in Photoshop to give it an early morning skylight atmosphere. I like my images to be as memorable as paintings.

Julius and Bea Magallanes are a newlywed couple, and this shoot was a post-nuptial pictorial, set in Loleng’s Resort up in Eden. I accompanied Rhonson for this session, and it was fun getting them to wear their bridal outfits again. More of this vintage set in my photo gallery here.
JOJIE ALCANTARA is an artist, writer and photographer who dabbles between photography and the arts. Armed with her Canon DSLR 5D camera, dental floss and asthma inhaler, she discovers and documents exciting, unheard of places in her quest for promoting the islands of the Philippines, particularly Mindanao. Her passion for travel and photography has brought her to places around Asia but her most rewarding trips were the unknown islands in her country where she encounters enchanting places, queer folks, strange rituals and suspicious, inedible-looking food.
On normal, antisocial days, she stays in her room, post-processing images, designing webs, artworks and promotional materials for clients, updating photoblogs, while socializing on Facebook. These are her quiet, productive moments.
On her sunny, gregarious, vain self, she’s up on her toes organizing activities, hosting weddings and big events, making TV appearances and bonding with people. She also shares her skills by conducting art, creative writing, photography and photoshop workshops.
On her wildly wicked moments, however, she is away on some far off adventure where any woman thinks twice to venture. Her personal advocacy is to promote the beautiful islands of the Philippines, and in particular Mindanao and her beloved Davao. Her images and stories are featured in her lifestyle column in SunStar Davao (running for 15 years now), national and international publications.
In 2006, she had her 15 minutes of fame globally among Pinoys when her collection of funny signs catapulted around the cyberhighway, where national TV networks (Mel & Joey, Boy & Kris, and Lucy Torres’ Gomez talk show) caught on. She is preparing to launch her new unpublished set soon.
For random trivia, she has an unbelievable collection of Asian horror films (loves to watch at midnight), Spongebob stuff, and Michael Jackson memorabilia. On top of that she’s had 11 international award winning photos, several art and photo exhibits, 6 dogs, 5 TV commercials, 4 target shooting trophies, 3 kids, 2 TV shows, 1 newspaper column…and a partridge in a pear tree.
She accepts commissioned projects on a case to case basis.
